The death toll has further climbed to 4,28,682 with 373 new fatalities reported in a 24-hour period.
The number of active cases have further come down to 3,88,508, the lowest in 139 days. It constitutes 1.21 per cent of the total infections.
In last 24 hours, 41,511 more people were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 31,180,968. At 97.45 per cent, the recovery rate is the highest ever.
The case fatality rate stands at 1.34 per cent.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 15,11,313 tests were conducted on Monday for detection of Covid infection, taking the total cumulative tests to 48,32,78,545.
The daily positivity rate has declined to 1.87 per cent, which has been less than three per cent for the last 15 days, according to the health ministry. The weekly positivity rate stands at 2.36 per cent.
Meanwhile, the fight against Covid-19 continues. Under the nationwide vaccination drive, a total of 51.45 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore cases on May 4.
