Rekha is undoubtedly of the most glamorous, talented and gracious actresses that Bollywood has given us. The timeless beauty has been ruling the hearts of her fans for so decades now. Her acting prowess along with marvellous dance skills and beauty did wonders at the box office. She is known as the timeless beauty of Indian cinema for a reason. While it’s hard to not see Rekha as anything else but an actor, did you know that she never planned on being an actor? All she wanted was to be married and have lots of children. She had once said so herself in an old interview. Speaking candidly about having children to Filmfare decades ago, the ‘Umrao Jaan‘ actress was quoted as saying, ‘My fantasy is to have lots of children. I hope it doesn’t remain a fantasy. My mother always tells me to have a child by the time I’m 30. I think it’s right. I want my children to physically grow with me. I don’t think there will be a communication gap because I’m very forward. I think 100 years in advance.’ She added, ‘I enjoy the privacy of my home. But I want the emptiness of my houses to be filled with children. Just imagine, children running up the stairs. But I am determined not to have only two children, 12 minimum.’ The year was 1984. She continued, ‘I regret not being married, not having children. I see my friends, all younger than me, married with children, visually acha lata hai.’ She went on to say, ‘I want to make good films. That’s not a fantasy. Life is too satisfying. Yet, a woman is not complete without being a mother.’ In 1990, Rekha married Delhi-based industrialist Mukesh Aggarwal but their love story ended tragically when he ended his own life by suicide, a few months after their marriage.
